MP does randomly stop talking and stare off into space a LOT.
There hasn't been an MP/Gary storyline since their first date, but their relationship has been progressing in the background. I like to think they're in the obnoxiously-cute stage.
For those interested, the "movie" they're watching is actually a color-inverted panel from The Letters of the Devil 2: The Legacy of L. I thought about using a more recent comic, but most of my stuff these days is sci-fi or fantasy, and I didn't want them to be watching something like that. MP is trying to watch what "normal" people watch around Gary. So an artsy black-and-white mystery seemed like a good call.
