I've been attending cons since 2008, but this is a problem I've somehow only run into over the last few years. Any time I've gotten a room, I've either been on my own, or I've stayed with at least one person I already know. Now, however, it's hard for me to find space in a room with any of my acquaintances. I know the pandemic changed things for a lot of people, but it also makes me worry that I'm an unpleasant roommate.
With certain shows, where it's very difficult to get a room by yourself, I've looked into forums for random roommate assignments, and I've come to realize that I'm extremely anxious about the idea. When I first started going to cons in my twenties, I doubt it would've been a problem; now, I find myself very uncomfortable sharing a living space with complete strangers.
