I've found that artists in particular are fond of the furry community, and there's something I have heard from multiple tablers that inspired this particular comic: these guys are big spenders at cons. An artist that can appeal to this community can really make bank, moreso than basically any other demographic.
When I first started cosplaying, it always bothered me how often I heard people disparaging the furry community. I've met a fair number of furries in my time as a tabler, and they're some of the friendliest people I encounter at cons. They're generous, always excited to talk, and very complimentary about my work, even though very little of my current art caters directly to those interests (something I hope to change, especially in some upcoming CosPain strips).
