I've recently gotten back into reading superhero comics, and a recent trend I've noticed is an overuse of two-page spreads right at the beginning of issues. While I'd rather this technique were reserved for more special or appropriate moments, I must admit that seeing them really made me want to experiment.
One of the best things about doing this story has been the opportunity to break out of the typical four-panel strips. Keeping uniform comic layouts has made producing CosPain much easier, and I love being a part of the long tradition of the comic strip, but there's an artistry to setting up something this complex that I don't get to indulge in often. Even though these pages took WAY longer than normal, the exercise has absolutely been worth it so far.
Rock on guys, and never stop drawing.
