It's jarring and a little disheartening for some reason when that realization occurs.
When you're in sales mode, you live and die a little with every person who walks up to your table. Every sale feels like a validation, while every person who walks away is a tiny disappointment. At least that's the case for me. Maybe other people can take this stuff less personally.
