To be fair, running a panel is hard. I can speak to this, having now done it several times. My recent Whodrawnit?! panel at Matsuricon went well, but there were definite stumbling blocks due to technical issues and inexperience. The important thing, however, is to learn from your mistakes and improve. I really want this panel to become a regular thing I do at cons, especially the ones I table at.
I don't attend many panels at cons, mostly because there are other things that occupy my time. I do have friends who go, however, and some of the horror stories they've told me have reinforced my general avoidance.
