As a rule, I avoid politics in my work. I am an entertainer first and foremost, and I want my comics to be safe spaces for people to escape the stresses of reality. I believe that I am not always right, and that everyone has the right to their own opinion, even if it's an opinion I don't like. That said, I will admit that I have been anxiously waiting for 2020 since ... oh, about 2016, if you get my drift. I don't know that this year will be an easy one, but I am hopeful that we shall see positive movement.
Despite the chaos that is the modern world, 2019 was a pretty good year for me. The second Letters book will be done very soon, and this last con season was my most successful one by far. Increasingly, I'm starting to feel less like I'm faking my confidence and more like I'm actually confident.
To all of you out there who read this silly little comic, may 2020 be your best year yet. To quote the fantastic Kelci Crawford, "You. Are. Awesome."
Rock on, guys, and never stop drawing.
