To be fair, it was not my most well thought-out endeavor. Back in 2017, I tried to cut my teeth with a stream for 24-Hour Comics Day. As in, the stream was running as long as I was working. And my camera setup was not ideal, so there were chunks where I was just sitting and working and no one could see what I was doing.
It was during one such step, the thumbnailing step, that I got a loud buzz from my phone. I checked it, and the message was basically just like the one in the comic. Getting feedback like that while streaming live can really screw up your flow, let me tell you.
I gave my mom the benefit of the doubt on that one. She doesn't watch streams, so I assumed she didn't realize that I was live on camera at the exact moment she sent me that text. So afterwards, I decided to talk to her about it. Her response?
"Yeah. I know you were live. And it was BORING."
I mute my phone when I stream now.
Rock on, guys, and never stop drawing.
