For those of you familiar with the PS4 program Dreams, you may already know what I'm talking about here. A little while back, they did a digital convention where they showcased some of their creators by making a virtual con space and setting up booths. I watched a friend who had the software stream it, and the act of walking around the simulated convention floor with mannequin-like avatars programmed to aimlessly meander in circles almost made me cry. I bought the software shortly afterwards. I'm using it to build my Artist Alley table right now, and I'll let you know if I do anything with that going forward.
Releasing this strip was a little tricky. In the universe of CosPain, conventions never stopped due to the pandemic. I've done this for a few reasons: providing people with escapism, preventing future print collections from being too dated, and having much more material about being at cons than about anything else relevant to this comic. That means that these characters HAVE been going to conventions, so it seemed discordant to suddenly have a strip where they hadn't been going to cons for a while.
My solution was to have Ray be the one that gets nostalgic. Just to give it some space, I stopped using him in strips for a while. His last appearance was ten strips and over two months ago. Hopefully, that will satisfactorily maintain this universe's continuity to a degree that only I actually care about.
