One of my favorite cons, Super MAGFest, recently had to announce it would not be happening in 2021 (which, in my opinion, was absolutely the right decision), so I thought it would be a good time to lovingly poke fun at them.
The MAGFest hotel lottery is kinda nuts. I get why they need to have it, as this is a con that is so ridiculously huge that there's no really fair way to accommodate everybody. Every year when the con rolls around, a group of us all log in around the same time in the hopes of getting assigned decent numbers and getting something at least close to the con center. Some years, we get one or two rooms. Others, nothing. And that's assuming the website functions properly, which is not always the case.
