I use Ray to address a lot of my own issues as a freelancer. I remember being fresh out of college and moving back into my parents' house, feeling like a failure because I didn't know what to do from there. Millennials had always been taught that moving back home as an adult was something to be avoided, but then we graduated right as the Stock Market crashed and discovered that we didn't know how to navigate the new world outside of school. I know a lot of people who had to move back in with their parents, and while it was with good reason, it wasn't without shame.
Thankfully, my parents were extremely supportive and helped me get my feet under me. I got a job, eventually moved out, and was able to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. And while freelancing has been a struggle (and Ray's desperate plea for clients definitely hits too close to home), I'm happy with my independence and grateful for everyone that helped me get here.
Rock on, guys, and never stop drawing.
