Hokay. We're finally doing this.
For a very long time, I've been thinking about shaking up CosPain. We've been going for four years now, and character development has been slow in the current format. In addition, it is common in 4-koma publishing, which this comic is modeled after, to intersperse the regular strips with short manga-style stories, and I've always intended to do the same thing once I began shopping a collection to publishers. In that spirit, we are going to be doing something a little different: I present to you "The Office Party": A CosPain Short Story.
For the next six weeks, CosPain will be updating every Tuesday and Thursday at noon EST, after which our normal weekly strip update schedule will resume. If all goes well, this will become a semi-frequent thing, although I do not intend to discontinue the traditional strip format.
This is a project that's been on the backburner for a while. I originally wanted to do this story when the 200th strip was released in May, but it was not quite ready. In my head, however, this story canonically takes place right after that strip.
Stories like this one are intended to let the world of CosPain stretch a little. They are going to set up new character relationships and plotlines that will give me ongoing material for the strips, as well as giving the overall project an increased sense of cohesion.
Anyway, enough nervous prattling. I have a comic to finish.
